I like this idea, vacuum your pests! Researchers have looked at field vacuums to clean pests off of crops. Why not try your household vaccuum on those pesky whiteflies? I'm not sure what you would do if you caught them --wouldn't they fly right back out?
Anybody tried this?

» Cottage_Garden - Vacuum Lady Bugs!!!!
When we lived in Pennsylvania we had problems with ladybugs coming into the house in the winter. Or, more accurately, they hibernated and then woke up on warm days and swarmed the west wall of the house. We eventually redid the caulking and made sure all crevices and cracks were closed off and that stopped it for the most part.
But I did take the canister vacuum and suck them up off the ceiling/high wall in the stairway periodically. Rather than change the bag each time, I kept a platic baggie over the end of the vacuum hose and closed it up tight with a rubber band. I did not want them to come crawling back out!!!
If I used the little hand held vacuum I emptied it OUTSIDE where it was cold. I hoped they couldn't find their way back.

Anybody tell you that you are clever today? I would have never thought to use my trusty vacuum that is gathering dust these days with my new laminate floors...now it will be useful again! Look out bugs! Vaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrroom!
