» ThatCrazyCatLady - Any suggestions?

Barbara, you're going to think I'm nutso happy Oh you did already? Well I can ask my question then hahaha

I have a new kitten - she is blue and cream swirled together. I give all my girls flower names when I register them, and I am just at a loss for this one. My other girls are Wild Meadow Buttercup, Jasmine Moonlight on the Grove, Dancing Flames Poppy, and Stargazer Lily...

I've googled myself silly and can't find anything "unique" or that just sounds like a pretty name. The only blue flowers I have are Veronica and Aster.

Any ideas or suggestions on where to look for blue flower names? happy

Thanks!!
Darlene

Off the top of my head, Blueberry Candy? There is a daylily named that, Hemerocallis, and it is cream with violet blue. Here is a photo. But let me think a little bit. I am sure there must be a viola or pansy or iris with a sweet cultivar name for a little kitten....

Oh thank you so much for helping! I'm familiar with the basic flowers - I know lilies and marigolds and wildflowers, nothing extensive happy

Pretty cool that you gave me that lily first - it is one that I have and have never known the name of hahaha Learn something new every day happy

Thanks again for your help!

» Cottage_Garden - Blue Flower Name for Cat

In response to Any suggestions? posted by ThatCrazyCatLady:

Blue and cream is TOUGH!!! Blue alone isn't all that easy if you want a pretty name.... and naming a cat is hard, too. But getting a pretty name with all of the above, um, wow!

Maybe (from Schreiners' Iris catalog)
Iris Mesa Pearl or Skylark's Song
Iris "Stairway to Heaven" has great coloring but the name it not really kitty-like....

from Thompson and Morgan seed catalog

Viola Karma Blue Butterfly
Delphinium Frosted Skies

from Bluestone Perennials catalog

Hosta Blue Angel (blue foliage, no cream)
Salvia nemerosa Dear Anja (perennial sage, blue with white tips)
Tricyrtis Taipei Silk aka Taipei Silk Artic Orchid (Violet blue with amazing patterns .... guess I should fess up, the more usual common name for this plant is toad lily, but still it's a cool name!)

Generally speaking, how about Lily-of-the-Nile (Agapanthus) more blue than blue and cream, but maybe an interesting name for a cat

Lots of violets, how about Amelia, or Arabella?

There are lots more violets with girl names and blue/purplish and white/cream/yellow coloring; common name is sometimes heartsease ... Here's one
searchable list with photos
....

Hope this helps!
