» Cottage_Garden - Photo on Welcome Page
I snapped this rose outside a junque shop -- actually it is a shop selling midcentury Scandinavian style teak and rosewood furniture. I loved the colors of the roses against the blue sky and the blue clapboards of the building. Here's the page where it appears-- posted by Cottage_Garden
» Cottage_Garden - Osteospermum
The photo for WELCOME FLOWER GARDENERS PART 2 is an Osteospermum I have growing in a container outside my kitchen door. I love the blue cast and the golden highlights in the center. I wish these photos could be larger! Here's the page where it appears

» Cottage_Garden - Flower Spillage
The photo for WELCOME PART 1 was taken walking in a neighborhood in Burbank CA. I love the informality, the way the flowers cascade over the mini retaining wall and spill out onto the sidewalk with abandon. This house is on a somewhat busy corner, and although the neighborhood is quite flat, they have the little brick wall. I wonder if it was installed to prevent cars missing the corner and ending up on their front porch... or lawn, anyway!
Whatever the reason, it makes a nice frame for the front edge of the flower bed.

» Cottage_Garden - Polka Dots on Snowdrops
In response to Flower Spillage posted by Cottage_Garden:I love the snowdrops blooming in early spring except they are so subtle, you have to bend down and really look at them up close to appreciate their finer qualities. Look closely at the photo and you can see the little polka dots on the pristine bell. I just think that is so kewl.
I grew snowdrops in PA and had them bloom while there was still snow on the ground. I snapped this one in February in Pasadena CA. Before moving to CA, I thought Southern California was too hot for bulbs. Apparently I was mistaken!

» Cottage_Garden - Quest for Photo-Op's
In response to Neat Idea! posted by Cercis:
Thanks! I enjoy taking photos of fun or interesting things I see in my daily travels. In a way they are like mementos!! Even though I cover the same ground pretty often, I do clock the miles. Looking for good photo-op's makes it more fun. Like a quest. Or an adventure.
