Winter always makes me a little stir crazy, and in snowy situations I am ready to do just about anything to get away from it all to see some green stuff growing in the sunshine. Rainy dreary bone cold windy spring days aren't much better. Well, you might as well DREAM BIG right now because there is an outlet for those dreams of warm places and luxuriant gardens .... if you can describe it and picture it you might WIN BIG.

The adventurous among us might want to enter a nifty contest with travel being the BIG prize. The contest is being run by Conde Nast Traveler for their 20th Anniversary. Get all the details here. Be sure you read all the rules, because you gotta WORK for this one -- as in write an essay and stuff.

But, if you are snowbound, it's not like you don't have plenty of time to work all that out. So where would you go? My last big, purely garden-oriented trip was to Wales. I'd really like to see the spring bulbs blooming at Keukenhof. I'm not sure that would run $20,000 though. Maybe the Amazon, and some Roberto Burle Marx gardens. Or Japanese or Chinese gardens. Or gardens of the moghuls. Or ... This might take a little more thought.
