It's December, so that means so far we've survived black Friday and are now checking our lists twice. Or, you may not have shopped at all yet for those perfect gifts. Either way, take a look at this handy dandy list of gift suggestions. I have included a range of items from the inexpensive to the outrageous, the utterly practical to the (somewhat) frivolous and just plain fun.
To be honest, I am not sure I am the best authority on gifts. My favorites over the years have been a truckload of mulch, a set of three ginormous amaryllis bulbs, a landscaper's measuring wheel, and Mike Dirr's BIG fat paperback "Manual of Woody Landscape Plants." These might maybe not seem too sexy to you, in that they are not the "latest and greatest," but they were abfabulous to moi!
If you are really at a loss, a gift certificate to a favorite local garden center or nursery or to a favorite mail order plant/supply catalog would be a great choice. It's always fun to shop at "the candy store" with a little funny money in your pocket, and for gardeners half the fun is trying to make up your mind -- so many plants, so little time!
