A hot tip on how to create instant fragrance in your flower garden or to enhance the containers on your deck or patio or front porch. So inexpensive, easy and so fun!

While strolling through The Grove, a tony shopping district in Los Angeles, I noticed smoke wafting up from a large planter urn filled with flowers. Bleck. It was hard to believe a smoker had mistaken that flower filled container for an ash tray and left the butt burning to boot.

But wait! As I passed by the flowers I was struck by the scent ... and voila! all became clear. The smoke was from a pair of smoldering incense sticks. The fragrance was unexpected and intoxicating. Hmmm. A "new" garden accessory.

What a great idea to use at home for special occasions on the deck or patio -- especially if your flowers have little or no scent of their own. (All too common with modern hybrids.) Incense sticks are inexpensive and you can burn two or more at once to create a custom scent for special occasions or to use as a signature scent of your very own. And when used outdoors, the fragrance never cloys or overwhelms, it just wafts gently on the breeze to create a unique sensory experience, enhancing the garden. Try it!
