Another twist on tea with flowers. In Pursuit of Tea offers a One Minute Tea Tip complete with photos of blooming display teas. A display tea shows the beauty of steeping tea leaves hand tied together so they open outward like the fingers of a hand at the bottom of your cup. And nestled at the center of the painstakingly arranged tea are … secret chrysanthemum flowers.
Here you can examine how it looks to add flowers to the brocade (Jing Shang Tian Hua) or embellish a green tea anemone. The photos are vivid with sparkle and surprisingly appealing. I wonder how the tea tastes!
I have had tea infused with flowers or containing bits of flowers – I love jasmine tea and orange blossom tea and tea with hibiscus flowers for example, and tea made with chamomile flowers is an old stand-by in the herb repertoire, but this is something else and quite extraordinary.
Stop and see the flowers, or consider this as one reason why you should drink tea from a glass instead of using a bone china cup.
See them up close on your own monitor (you can also order some although I have not) at In Pursuit of Tea. If you need a glass cup or glass gaiwan for your tea, they offer those, too. For over 30 different blossom display teas, check out the photos at Blossoming Leaf!
