Earth Day Images

For gardeners, I think every day is probably Earth Day, but there is an official day for it: April 22nd.

In New York City, there is a terrific Earth Week celebration at Grand Central Terminal organized by Earth Day New York. It includes EarthFair Inside and EarthFair Outside, as well as a larger than life projection show of Earth-related artwork, photographs, quotes and messages called The Giant Earth Images (Images runs April 17-23, 10AM to 8PM on the Main Concourse.)

In case you won't be passing through Grand Central station during Earth Week, you can still experience The Giant Earth Images show by watching the slides on-line. Granted, the show currently on-line is from 2005 but if you haven't seen it yet it is worth watching. And if you did see it last year, you won't mind seeing it again!

The images are eye catching, evocative, gorgeous and inspiring. I watched mesmerized for several minutes without checking my watch, so I can't tell you how long it actually is, but I think it is about ten minutes of non-stop images. You are sure to see at least a few shots that pull at your heart. The Giant Earth Images

If you do expect to be in New York city (or if your own local Earth Day activities could use some inspiration) you might check into the many local Earth Day events listed at the extensive Earth Day New York web site.
