The 2006 All America Rose Selection (AARS) winners are gorgeous roses and are also proven to be easy to grow nationwide. Can you guess my favorite? Hint: The French Chef

The 2006 All America Rose Selection (AARS) Winners > are drop dead gorgeous.

Julia Child, Rainbow Sorbet, Wild Blue Yonder, and Tahitian Sunset are lovely to look at AND they passed a rigorous series of tests on garden performance. They're winners based on criteria including vigor, growth habit, disease resistance, foliage, flower production, bud and flower form, opening and finishing color, fragrance, stem and overall value. So, theoretically, they should be easy to grow at home nationwide.

I was tickled to see this Julia Child rose. A Julia Child fan even as a child, I found her cooking mesmerizing on 1960's black and white television. Apparently I wasn't the only one who enjoyed her unique style! Later on, I used her books on French cooking to learn some cooking techniques beyond the "boiling water" stage as so many of us have done over the years.

To anyone familiar with Julia Child's cooking, it's especially fitting that her namesake rose is a buttery yellow. She often added a few dabs of "enrichment butter" as the finishing touch to already amply rich dishes. It's a delicious rose any way you slice it.
