Once you have planted every blue flower you can think of so the garden is awash in all shades of blue flowers, there are still many more fun and different ways to carry out the theme for a blue flower garden! As we wrap up this series on All Blue Flowers, it's time to pay attention to other ways of adding to blue to the garden beyond plants.
Every garden deserves an appropriate decoration or ornament or two. You could begin with a comfortable bench or chair in a style suited to your garden; paint it blue or add a blue cushion. Then add a shiny blue gazing ball, or a blue painted birdhouse on a tall post, or a wall mural or mosaic using lots of blue. Top that off with blue shutters and awnings on your house, add a blue mailbox, a blue garden fence, a blue banner or a blue front door (or paint your whole house blue!)
Put a blue car in the drive and a blue bicycle next to the blue swimming pool.... Blue garden gloves and blue handles on your tools, wear a blue sun hat and perhaps blue jeans for gardening garb. You get the idea. Enjoy!
This is a long series of articles covering many different selections of blue flowers ranging from tiny spring bulbs through perennials, annuals and native plants to vigorous vines - all with blue flowers! I hope this gives you lots of ideas of plants to plant in your blue flowered theme garden as well as special ways to decorate it to carry through with the blue color theme. Or, if you can't strictly limit yourself to just one color flower I hope this gives you some ideas of good blue flowers to try growing. There certainly are a lot of them!
