Welcome to Flower Gardens! We’ll help you design and grow your dream flower garden. Practical Advice and Inspiration for the beginning and advanced flower gardener. How t

We all have a dream garden, the flower garden we'd love to create. Let Flower Gardens help you achieve your special dream garden growing whatever your heart desires, be it annuals, perennials, biennials, roses, flower bulbs or tropicals!

I am so excited about starting Flower Gardens. Gardening has been my passion for many years and I love writing about all the joys (and trials) we flower gardeners experience, plus keeping up with what's new in flower gardening. It is so fitting that my first articles should appear in March when I am just itching for spring!

Practical How-To Advice

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced flower gardener, I hope Flower Gardens will be your favorite go-to source for detailed practical advice on gardening with flowers of all kinds. Eventually, we'll cover everything thing you need to know to grow beautiful flowers from planning and design, to selection, to planting, to maintenance and propagation. We'll look at the nitty gritty on how to start seeds, mulch and fertilize and deadhead. We'll look at annuals, perennials, biennials, flower bulbs and roses along with cut flowers and theme gardens and any thing else flower-garden-related we can think of!

Flower Garden Design & Inspiration

We'll talk about flower garden styles and techniques ranging from formal bedding schemes to naturalized plantings, from the perennial border to parterres, the mixed border to rock gardens, using raised beds and containers, achieving all season color and creating winter interest in the flower garden.

What's New in Flower Gardens

I love learning new things, so I'll try to bring you information about what's new, either new varieties or new innovations in flower gardening or maybe just information that's "new to me." There is always more to learn in gardening!

Happy Spring 2006 from Barbara Martin's Flower Gardens!
